  • Public School Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection

With NY full of buzz from fashion week we have begun to see some very promising collections from names we’ve all been accustomed to seeing garner great praise from the runway. One label, Public School whom we’ve seen bubbling for a few years now within the New York fashion scene has seen their stock risen a bit with the presentation of their Eugene Tong styled NYFW debut collection for the upcoming Autumn/Winter season. Designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne have combined their two unique perspectives of fashion to produce an collection rich in inspiration and full style without becoming overbearing. Although not as brash as some may expect from a NYFW debut there is a youthful sophistication to the collection; a rebel with a cause.

  • UNKLE “Another Night Out” Music Video

How James Lavelle continually manages to transform and retool UNKLE, while still producing progressive and interesting music is a feat on its own. UNKLE continues to put out amazing bodies of work as last seen by their album Where Did the Night Fall: Another Night Out, an extension of their 2010 release Where Did the Night Fall. Although we rarely receive visuals put to any of their music, the standout track “Another Night Out” from that album has seen an proper visual representation via director Toby Dye. Set to an moody depiction of an amateur boxers pre fight ritual, the marriage of sound and visuals create an beautiful film of sorts the likes we have come to expect from anything that represents the UNKLE name.

  • 3×1 AC.12 Skateboard Bag

Upon a recent visit to their Soho atelier I came across a few 3×1 pieces that stood out along side their already beautifully hand crafted denim. Although the space has its focus set upon the production and conception of their denim line, the label also introduces a few noteworthy pieces such as their AC.12 Skateboard Bag that further the brands reach and appeal. Produced using the same japanese denim from Kaihara as their jeans, the skateboard bags provide an utilitarian protective sleeve for skateboards and hardware; an unique pieces indeed. The bag is produced in limited quantities in house of course and only made available at their Soho location.

  • Jun Cha Paris 2012 Photo Essay

I won’t pretent to express a deep seeded knowledge of the tattoo world but I have a great appreciation for high level beautifully defined work. A true artists’ artwork will speak to you no matter the medium it is bound to, and this is the case when it comes to the work of tattoo artist Jun Cha. Tutored under the watchful eye of some of traditional black and white tattoo’s legendary artist Baby Ray, and Jose Lopez although young in age, his work speaks of a man much wiser and sharper. His talents have taken him from his Los Angeles base to across the globe with an recent trip to Paris standing as the subject for his latest photo essay. His work stands on its own and his direction and focus is unparalleled.

  • Obscur Autumn/Winter 2012 Lookbook

While much of the fashion world has ridden the coat tails of the current themes of rustic faux heritage “menswear”, Richard Soderberg, seemingly isolated from the civilized world, has taken hisObscur label to great heights by continuing to produce highly conceptualized garments that aim to progressive rather then regress. His Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, entitled “Static”, continues the Swedish designer’s focused vision for fashion with seasonally garments that evoke an sense of drama via off axis constructed pieces, elongated leathers. There is a really interesting approach taken to the construction of each piece as the entire collection lends its self for varying levels of draped looks which can be seen as unapproachable.
