  • “TURN ME OP” Exhibition IRENE ALVAREZ – Textile/Op Art

Irene Alvarez (1984) is an artist with a background in sculpture.
She inspires herself in ethnic civilizations and pop culture, attempting to work on clashing symbols that create a rupture giving a new meaning to our western references and ancient archetypes.

Her approach to illustration is contemporary as she reinvents herself in a new series “Turn Me Op” composed by three woven tapestry artworks. This creation emerges in collaboration with the Audax Textielmuseum in Tilburg where they support talent and challenge in textile art. Her main reference through out the process has been op art. As a consequence, unexpected optical effects stimulate the viewer into a psychedelic vision.

A limited series of printed tee-shirts and a Tipi installation complete the exhibition

  • 26 May at Hunting and Collecting: Photographer ELODIE CHAPUIS!!

    ELODIE CHAPUIS  - www.elodiechapuis.com

French photographer based in Paris. Currently works for music and fashion magazines.

After modeling, she starts photography in 2006

The following year, alongside her commissioned works in fashion, moved by a sensitive attraction for the musical scene, she takes on board for 4 days coverage of the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, first step of what will become a personal artistic project.

Her work in music focus on Live performances and off stage portraits throughout an evolutionary journey that gave ground to a first exhibition in April 2010 at Le Bon Marche Paris (Esprit Factory).

Permanently looking for new upcoming artists and bands opening gigs in France, Elodie was one of the first to cover live in Paris of The Temper Trap, White Noise Sound recently or The XX in 2009.

Her powerful portraits and Live photographies of musicians includes The Kills, Franz Ferdinand, The Drums , Razorlight, Phoenix, Florence and The Machine, Iggy and The Stooges, White Lies, Peter Doherty among others and are regularly featured in music publications such as Rock and Folk and Indie Magazine.

[STAGE ME OUT] is the second chapter of Elodie’s personal road music project, composed with a series of cutting edge black and white photographies that pushes you in front of the stage and captures the essence of the music scene.

“I capture moments through what my eyes feel, when the sound and the lights blast over everything. Live gets so fleeting but at the same time so real to a point that one might find surrealist to imagine artists in another context.”

“As the reality is in color, black and white feels directly bound with the imagination, and it is a part of imagination I wish to share throughout my photographies”

Special thanks to all artists, managers and magazines without whom….

    [STAGE ME OUT]

26 MAY – 19 JUNE Photographies. Documents and installation will complement the Photography’s exhibition.

  • KWANGHO LEE – LIFELIKE DESIGN – SEPTEMBER 10

    10.09.2010 – 30.09.2010
“Kwangho Lee, lifelike design” – Hunting and Collecting
17 rue des Chartreux / Kartuizersstraat, B-1000 Brussels.
Every tuesday to sunday from 12h until 20h.
    Vernissage: 10.09.2009 – 18h.

For the occasion of Design September 2010, Brussels based designart dealer Victor Hunt and select store Hunting and Collecting are pleased to announce their collaboration for the “Kwangho Lee, lifelike design” exhibition and thus to invite you to come and discover some of the most groundbreaking works in contemporary conceptual designart.

The “Kwangho Lee, lifelike design” exhibition will represent an exceptional overview of Kwangho’s work in his up to now short but brilliant career and offer a unique insight in his creations through his works and animated projections of his creative process. However to physically illustrate the exciting evolutions the designart movement is undergoing, Kwangho will exercise his crafts and skills by creating one work of choice during the early hours of the vernissage.
Afterwards the vernissage will be enlightened by a confrontation in which Kwangho Lee, Victor Hunt and two undisclosed guests will head-up in a ping-pong debate about the work of Kwangho Lee and other young designers within the context of designart. Game, set, match!

“Kwangho Lee was born in 1981 in South Korea, grew-up on a farm but finally finished Hongik University in 2007. Now he awaits the harvest.” Through his truly unique combination of materials, crafts and concepts; Kwangho Lee evokes true emotion. Working always on concepts as for example ”primary transformations for primary materials”, he tries to see to other side of materials. Everyday raw materials can be made into something beautiful… Design for the heart!

After his graduation at the Seoul University, Kwangho made in no time a name for himself and ever since saw his work represented at the highest level by gallery’s as Johnston Trading in New York, Commissaires in Montreal and venues as the DesignMiami/Basel artfair or the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

    Dates: 10.09.2010 – 30.09.2010
