    After years of requests from fans of the Marc johnson 1’s, Emerica is now set to release this classic silhouette under a new name, the OG1. This resurrection of the classic skate shoe has sent the skateboard community into a frenzy since the announcement has been made, and I myself am one of those filled with excitement for its imminent release. The shoe is being released by Emerica, not only due to years of imploring by folks within the skateboard community, but to also showcase and remind people of the rich heritage that the company holds in skateboarding. Two colorways will release in the Spring of 09 in limited numbers, so be sure to keep your eyes open!

  • Skatebook Volume 2 Release Party on August 7th at KCDC Skateshop

    Salman Agah will be hosting a release party for the John Cardiel edition of Skatebook on August 7th at KCDC Skateshop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. There will be complimentary issues of this marvelous book as well as libations for those 21 and up. Skatebook is such an amazing project that is put together by Agah and his partner Mike Ballard. It does such a fantastic job of capturing skateboarding’s essence with stunning photography from the sport’s glorious past and present. Be sure to check your local skateshops for this issue and the first one if still available.

    Shawn Mortensen recently hooked up with Fresh Jive to shoot some highlights of their Fall 2008 line. The photos yield some cool looks into the upcoming offerings from the company that has seen all sorts of controversy in recent times.   • Beautiful Losers Set For New York With Nike

    Having appreciated this documentary phenoma Beautiful Loosers personally I can add Aaron Rose has masterminded something of great distinction that will be remembered for a long time. With the film set to debut in NYC on August 8 the film that dives into artists like Mike Mills, Barry McGee, Jo Jackson, Chris Johanson, Harmony Korine, Stephen Powers, Geoff McFetridge, Thomas Campbell and Ed Templeton to name a few this exhibition and film will also feature workshops presented by Nike Sportswear at the IFC Centre.

    "The work created in each location will form a continually evolving exhibition, which will be open to the public to view. To further commemorate the film’s release, Nike’s Sportswear’s Jesse Levya has also created a series of 22 Beautiful Losers Dunks emblazoned with iconic stills from the movie using the company’s new high-resolution digital printing process. Says Aaron Rose of the project, “We went back to the documentary and pulled frame stills of what we felt were key moments in the narrative. We used these moments to tell the Beautiful Losers story using the shoes as a medium, with the end result being a collection of works of art.” Viewed together, the shoes reflect the overall narrative of the film, and after being exhibited at the NYC and LA “Make Something!” workshops, two sets of the shoes will be auctioned off with proceeds donated to the Children’s Aid Society." Making for another exceptional event come release, epic.
