I am here in Niseko, Hokkaido, North island of Japan.
I have a work with a film crew in few days.
So I came early to set things up for them and myself.
This is a place where the wild thing are in Japan.
I will be here for another 3 weeks, am going to keep posting what’s up from this snow covered town and mountain.
The day I came up was rainy day, but we got bunch of snow after I got here.
Amazing snow and amazing boards by Taro Tamai.

Tokyo shots

This one week, I have work to do on computer writing some text for some magazines.
One is for a free paper magazine called “FLJ”, one for a magazine called “GRIND”.
I do column for those two magazines. FLJ has photo column, GRIND has a column called “SKATALITY”. Talking about something people learn from skate. Skatality is word I made up meaning Skate-mentality or skate-vitality,,,,,. And one the biggest article I have is of Danny Kass=Snowboarder, about a tour we went together in New Zealand for this magazine called “SNOWSTYLE”. Doing 22pages article with 8000W.
So I am pretty much staying on desk, writing text most of day.
A joy part of the day is when I am taking picture of city.

RICOH Group Exhibition – Ginza

This one Photo exhibition by Ricoh is going on till 31st of January in Ginza.
120 people contribute one photo for this. You can see bunch of photo taken by variety of people from serious professional photographers to actor, actress, comedian, musician, designer,,,,, all kind of interesting people.

This place RINGCUBE is a place does interesting exhibition all time. So I want to recommend you to go when you have chance.

A dream came true!!! GRxSTUxxx

One of my dream came true!!!

My favorite camera GR Digital and my favorite crew Stussy design have collaboration.
Since the most of photo in my book, “West Americanized Tour” published by Stussy, were taken by GR1s=film camera,
I approached Ricoh to find people who made that camera to let them know how this camera made my life change.
And they welcomed me and listen to me and found interest in me and supported me.
I am using this camera every single day for years in anywhere in the world.
So I am glad about the fact I could have relationship with them.

And then, It was natural for me to introduce my other supporter Paul and Rob (stussy, made my book) to them.
That was about April of 08′ or something.

Huge Company Ricoh and Stussy met each other there and BOoooM!!!!

A FUNtastic New year!

I was constantly wondering about blogging since last, but I could not figure what to start.
So many things were going on at end of the year that I could blog, but never happened.

Well, It’s New Year now.
Let’s start from there.

How was new year eve and the 1st day of new year everyone??

I was chillin’ at Perdon-san’s in Hayama with bunch of old and new friends.
We have heritage to eat buck wheat SOBA noodle at end of year in Japan.
And go to temple to hit night bell to welcome new year.
And also our part of joy of the day is watching 1st sun rise of year to welcome new year.
So from Hayama, we moved to Kamakurayama, David Smith’s house.
One thing really rare to happened was moon eclipse on this new year morning.

That was trippy start of new year.

a painter and a shaper

Here I want to introduce 2 interesting people from San Francisco.

A painter Jeff Canham. He is a sign painter.
What cool about sign painter I think is he can not move surface that he have to drew thing on around.
It’s like street skating. He have to deal with what he got and make it work.
When he drew on grass, he need to drew from backward.
Jeff usually working as general amazing sign painter like that.
And other hand, he paints art, work with client such as surf company or apparel company,,,,,.

And also a surfboard shaper. Danny Hess.
In general, if you hear surfboard shaper, you will imagine they are shaping white form thing in white toxic powdered room. But Danny is a unique, because he makes and shape surfboard with woods.
It’s like skateboard, but progressive and made by Danny’s hand.
It’s not art board or anything based on feeling. It’s full on extreme surfboard which he ride on gigantic wave at place like Maverricks. Unbelievable! His pure creative is generated by concept “ride nature with the board very friendly to nature as possible as it can be”.

Now I know

The time I started blogging was while I was in US, travelling. So I had no idea how to blog.

I could see James and he showed me how to deal with it. So I can blog more and have more idea and stuffs.

Until this point, I was blogging photo I took on days. I hope you all are enjoying.

I will keep doing it and maybe try to post some interesting stories eventury.
