  • Inside Opening Ceremony’s “Little House of Accessories”

Earlier we were excited to tell you about the new Opening Ceremony Accessories store and now we are even more pleased to reveal that the shop is just as true to its little house exterior and ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’ interior theme as we thought. Large wall outlets and hanging doll legs display shoe collections, while oversized animal jewelry cases and huge pushpins which showcase hand bags are just a few of the rather odd decorations that cover the store. Cartoonish head manikins host head gear on stilt-like poles inside of desk draws which sit on a giraffe print floor. Opening Ceremony has once again impressed everyone with their attention to detail and conceptual mastery.

  • Yves Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2009 Accessories & Footwear

Yves Saint Laurent hardly ever disappoints, especially when it comes to accessories; this fall’s collection keeps up with tradition. Creativity, like cufflinks and necklaces with silver bullet detailing, and clever branding, such as the nylon tote bag and sneakers with Y detail, power the line alongside YSL’s penchant for smooth lines and graceful fits. The wallets and belts of the collection feature very minimal designs with smooth leather. Simplicity is truly the key as far as YSL is concerned.

  • Subfusco Spring/Summer 2010 “Collective Species” Collection

    Subfusco Spring 2010 “Collective Species”

Days have ended; men and women have reached equality through bonds of love from the world “riddled with turmoil and destruction”. Australian designer Joshua Scacheri has created one of the most beautiful minimalist, airy collections seen to date for Subfusco called the “Collective Species” which will be released in spring 2010. The seemingly unisex designs blend great with earthy and understated colors. The “Collective Species” is a perfect example of when conceptual genius meets fashion expertise.

  • Andy Gilmore | Black Math Exhibition at Pool Gallery

    andy-gilmore-black-math-1

Opening this week at Berlin’s Pool Gallery is Andy Gilmore’s exhibition Black Math, a series of kaleidoscopic images inspired by the artist’s love for the physics of sound. The musicality of Gilmore’s art is more than just simple coincidence: the New Yorker spent much of his career investigating the physical properties of sounds and, strangely, this incorporation of the impalpable renders Gilmore’s futuristic forms familiar in some way. Black Math’s simple, hypnotic aesthetic may well herald the coming of more art that involves mathematic complexity and visual minimalism. The exhibition opens on the 10th of July and will run until the 11th of August.

  • Arcangel, Pinard, Routson | Team Gallery

Back with a vengeance at Team Gallery this month, artists Cory Arcangel, Guillaume Pinard and Jon Routson are presenting a new collection of video, sound and print pieces in what is ostensibly a continuation of their foray into the darkly funny and strangely nauseating. Arcangel, for one, will be exhibiting his new video arrangement of Schoenberg’s Three Piano Pieces, painstakingly created by editing hours of YouTube footage of cats playing on pianos to create the illusion of a note-by-note rendition, whilst Pinard continues his studies of bold colour and geometric compositions with several Flash animations of a land inhabited only by animals and insects pitted against each other in grotesque skirmishes. And all this whilst circular projections of images – including unflattering portraits of Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney – rotate on walls in Routson’s exhibition of his Spinners Series. In what promises to be one of Team Gallery’s greatest exhibitions of the year, Arcangel, Pinard and Routson are demonstrating that nothing is better paired with innovation than a little bit of queasiness! The exhibition will run until the 31st of July. (more…)
