Kanye West | Through the Wire Book Preview
October 18th 09, 21:57
As the follow-up to his successful projects Thank You And Your Welcome and Glow in the Dark book, Kanye is making another literary effort. This time Kanye is joining forces with Academy-nominated, famed illustrator Bill Plympton. The book is a graphically illustrated memior of major, life changing events in Kanye’s life. Lyrics from 12 of his most influential songs will be featured and spread out through the books content. Conjoined with illustration Plympton and Kanye help explain the pivotal references behind each song.

Aesthetically the book is not far from the mind warped visuals that Mr. West, so often, gives us like his recent publicly released video short with director Spike Jonze. The book will be available for purchase on Nov 10. Amazon.com divulges that “The result is a one-of-a-kind book that initially grabs you and stays with you forever.” Alluding that this will once again be a Kanye West collectors item.

Nigel Cabourn LTD Ascent Collection
October 5th 09, 12:01
Nigel Cabourn has been an influential force in technical/function clothing for an extensive period. The English designer has had trouble in the past with injecting his substance and detailed oriented pieces and collections into the States. With such originality and research put into every piece, it is only seems appropriate that the school of Opening Ceremony would be first of the primary fashion (or retail) institutes to accept Cabourn.

Opening Ceremony captured a limited edition collection that may, otherwise, only be available at Canbourn’s store The Army Gym in Japan. Both of these jackets blended so well in there environment you man have missed them when we covered the opening of The Army Gym.
The Cameraman jacket is wool and waterproof colliding perfectly at the chest recreating wearable conditions for an Mt. Everest climb. The Canadian mountain coat does the same but unfortunately is insufficient for the Everest climb according to George Mallory’s attempt in 1924 where he was later found frozen. Both jackets will run you a pretty penny – $1,620 & $1,685.
Thnx MS.

Jeremy Scott x Tanqueray
September 30th 09, 13:51
Our industry has recently seen the birth of a new fad. Fine liquor and alcohol companies are taking a page from our cultural handbook and exploring the vast opportunities of cross marketing. Belvedere caused a black bottle obsession in every Los Angeles night club with help from Flaunt and renowned graffiti artist Andre. The results brought his signature character to life (literally in some instances) and made Belevdere the nightly drink of choice.

Now Tanqueray is calling on Jeremy Scott to liven up their already refined, tasty beverage into something swooned over in higher circles. Incorporating Scott’s signature “allover” aesthetic, the packaging is wall papered with what Jeremy Scott thought was appropriate – olives and martini glasses. The exterior is very reserved, all black with Scott’s signature for accent. Tanqueray holds up their end of the bargain keeping the drinks well known attributes. Quadruple-distilled 94.6 proof offering, made from fresh botanics.

Rick Owens First Flagship in Tokyo
August 31st 09, 11:56
Rick Owens has made quite the splash this summer and in his past few seasons soaking us all. The American designer has some what defied the odds and become Americas avant avenger. His next feat is something many have been expecting and even predicted; his first flagship in Tokyo.

The location seems to fit the designer finger to glove and the space itself looks as if it should house the designer – not the collection. The space is very open and clean, not a lot of fixtures for distraction and an amazing back view. The store will carry Rick Owens, Darkshadow, RickOwensLilies, Rick Owens Furniture, and a collection of DVDs and CDs of his personal selection. This stands to make waves.

The Mister Hollywood Online Store
August 31st 09, 11:38
We know that for several N. Hoolywood is a prime brand, but is a struggle to get your hands on. Not very many doors carry the account stateside and online retailers sell out. In an effort to fix the problem N.H. has opened an online door. The only issue is that at the moment it is being used as cross marketing for the Under Summit Wear line.

So for now, you can not purchase the full line here. But rest your weary heads, we are sure Mister Hollywood will have more in store in the near future.

Oliver Spencer: Made For MONOCLE Oxford
August 31st 09, 10:57
This September MONOCLE, the popular store/magazine is dueling with Oliver Spencer on the most important piece in a man’s wardrobe, an oxford. Witty with no intention; these working man oxfords come in only blue collar and white collar. The run in numbers is even a little ridiculous with only 60 of each shirt produced. But you have to figure that it gets the point across clearly.

The shirts will be available to the whole world via Internet on Monocle and Oliver Spencer’s websites.

Thanks Selectism.

Visvim Patchwork Christo
August 31st 09, 9:25
Visvim has been on a roll as of late. It was only a few days ago we posted their pastel inspired Hockney collection. For Visvim observers the FBT is the most worthwhile shoe to purchase. But for die hard fans of Visvim a pair of Christo sandals are the ultimate statement of function, comfort and luxury.

The latest Christo features the body of the sandal completely covered in street wears most popular fabric – patchwork plaid. The choice of patchwork almost gives you a reminiscent feeling of early Westwood. Once again a pair worth purchases from the street wear juggernaut.
Thanks to Bobo’s for the info.

Piet Breinholm | The Last Bag
August 24th 09, 2:10
Piet Breinholm, former drummer for the Berlin band 18 Dye, has recently taken a delve in fashion. His creation is a remake of a classic past-time for most adults today – school uniform bags. Although here in the U.S. the backpack is more customary, abroad a more formal carrier is appropriate. Breinholm’s inspiration was the Danish school bag.

Breinholm kept the integrity of the original bags. He only added better leather, removed some embellishments, and kept “The Last Bag” simple and unisex. All bags are made completely in Denmark, come in two sizes, and several school colors and combinations. The name “The Last Bag” is a play off the group – ” The Last Band”.

Steve Mono Bag Collection
August 6th 09, 23:16
Opening Ceremony recently received an amazing collection of bags by designer Steve Mono. The collection varies in styles and textiles from leather to cotton, messenger to tote. A majority of the bags are hazel or chocolate colored leather. The detailing is very minimal only solid silver rivets hold the shape and construction of each bag together, on the hardware side of fabrication. The leather itself speaks volumes on its own.

The collection ranges from $185 for the striped cotton and leather tote to $535 for the heavier weekend duffel with leather strap.
