N. Hoolywood Fall/Winter 2009 Collection
August 4th 09, 20:50
A very impressive collection as been recently released from the American invigorated brand with a creative base out of Japan. N. Hoolywood is more regularly known for their extensive detail and fashion function with a farm and workwear aesthetic. This season features varied outlooks on classic American dress. Hoolywood has seemingly moved forward a few decades on the American timeline this collection. While the flannel prints are still present, the woven textiles and recoil of such familiar patterns leave the collection reminiscent of Calvin Klein or Kenneth Cole. Sure to maintain superb cuts and smart patterns the Fall/Winter release looks season appropriate.

Beside the knits – tees shirts are in abundance compared to past seasons. Using architecture as an inspiration the graphic images include geometric shapes and patterns. The quality of the collection overall has met and surpassed the standard criteria.

Paul Smith Space Gallery: Dream Empire
August 3rd 09, 20:30
Paul Smith has shown throughout time, within his collections and personal interest, that he has a love for the arts. His SPACE GALLERY is a platform intended to showcase the minds of British and European artists to the Japanese market. Paul Smith’s new feature exhibit is entitled: Dream Empire by Keiichi Tanaami and Pete Fowler. The collection holds firm to Mr. Smith’s initial idea of blending English and Japanese art.

Inspiration for the artwork is rooted in the musical styling of Super Furry Animals and their album art for Dark Days/Light Years. Both artist took careful time to inspect and collect mounds of images to compile an abstract art direction. Fowler and Tanaami blended their separate psychedelic intuitions creating an alternate universe.
Tanaami personal theme “Mysterious Journey to an Alien World” takes a firm lead in the direction on the exhibition. SPACE GALLERY will be housing their collaborative works from Aug 1-23.

Yuketen Ring Boots
July 27th 09, 11:10
Ring boots are a boot style slowly filtering their way into our Western state-of-mind. Classically, for most on the Western Front a chunky workwear boot is more appropriate and stylish for the Fall/Winter season. It has seemingly become customary a boot with a higher ankle is the standard for harsher seasons.
Yuketen’s current Fall ring boots are making it painstakingly difficult to stay away from venturing to a lower cut. The Yuketen boot host an oil stressed leather body, contrast yarn stitching, rustic rings, and Vibram sole. The aesthetic of the boot allows them to be worn with the rings showing or jeans laying over the rings, transforming them into a Red Wing. The Yuketen has the same square toe, heavy stitching and dual layered sole and mid-sole.

Alexander Wang for Men Preview
July 24th 09, 9:46
Finally - Alexander Wang is releasing a menswear collection, after some very strong seasons in womenswear and winning awards for his uncanny ability to stylize simplicity. Wang’s line, T, turned basics into intricate fashion pieces without extensive layering or Comme des Garcon like patchwork and detailing. The only issue is that ‘T’ has and will be, until Spring, exclusively for women.
This Spring Alexander Wang will apply the same principles from his womens’ line and personal wardrobe to develop a collection of tees, tanks, hoodies, and button ups. Every piece will lay and feel soft and over stretched, like your favorite band tee, droopy edges, dropped armpits and loose neckline. Vietnamese fabrics stand alone in the collection and were mangled and beaten relentlessly to get the relaxed bed or beach shirt appearance and feel. The price point isn’t out of the ordinary for designer essentials; $70-$135.
Although you can wear one of these basic pieces under a Diet Butcher jacket or Wrath Arcane vest, should you?

Uniforms for the Dedicated Fall/Winter 2009 “A play of Nonsense” Collection
July 11th 09, 23:09
Uniforms for the Dedicated has taken its elaborate name, attention to detail and construction to the stage - in a sense. Inspired by Alice and Wonderland the entire collection integrates the color themes and other-world details into every piece.

Now holding a few credible season under their belt this season is, in the eyes of many, a true expression of company brand identity. Uniform has stepped away from very cliche Earth tones and chosen to use dull reds and greens as accents for their Fall delivery. Sweaters, outerwear and collared shirts have buttons varying in bright colors and sizes. There is also a trend to be seen here much like Philip Lim’s most recent collection, the pleated button up shirt. Elongated silhouette and over-sized waist are honorable mentions to the fantasy land collection produced by 2008’s “Upcoming brand of the year” during Stockholm fashion week.

Black Glove by Black Diamond King
July 11th 09, 21:40
Private jewelry designer and custom king, Azature, is making waves in the accessory scene right now – not that he hasn’t in the right circles. Currently the infamous designer is touring the Fortune 500 list and scheduling intimate dinners. While consulting on the custom black diamond pieces he will produce for each dinner host.

A lot of the designer’s pieces are finished in Russia where he, not surprisingly, has a black diamond attached to his moniker. In an attempt to open his fan base Azature will be allowing Harvey Nicholas’s new brick and mortar location in Saudi Arabia to be the first with an account this October.

Phillip Lim Fall/Winter 2009 Collection
July 3rd 09, 15:39

The recently shown Fall preview in New York Fashion Week from Phillip Lim really put things in perspective. Lim’s perception on today’s young man is embellished shirts, monotone colors and essential pieces. By adding extra panels and finished details on both jackets and pants pockets., Lim was able to keep his short boxed fit and induce his avant garde into casual. Extended cardigans, simple contrast lapels, tapered sweats and belt less peacoats make every piece openly compatible with anything in the collection.
Although visually this season is a little of the beaten path for Lim his focus lead to an amazing season. The lookbook here was styled with close attention to silhouette helping to bring life to Lim’s vision. You can view the whole season here.

Sophnet x Dr. Romanelli P.E. Collection
July 1st 09, 12:34

Adding a little nostalgia to current affairs, SOPHNET has joined forces with the reminiscent Dr. Romanelli to customize your yesteryear P.E. uniforms. Dr. Romanelli’s track record should assure you the quality will support the team and creative essence behind each piece. The heather grey and maroon color scheme sparks flashbacks of ducking and spinning away from large, rubber, zooming dodgeballs. Shirt graphics feature the tag-line mind, body, and soul suggesting something beyond basic physical education.

Thomas Engel Hart
June 30th 09, 22:58

Menswear Designer Thomas Hart is attempting to bring a prominent sub culture back to the fore. In addition to designing a collection that fit the culture, Hart did his best to present imagery that defined his creative direction as well.
In order to do so Hart turned a side street in Paris’s Marais district into its old punk inspire self. Beers, cigarettes, pizza, and camera set-ups were in full effect at the shoot. Hart explained that the collection and lookbook is 45% glam rock and 25% Japan. David Bowie was even referenced as an sight for inspiration.
The collection features high-waisted pants, embellished jackets, and shredded shirts for everyone. Behind the scenes pictures:

Air Jordan VI Infared
June 30th 09, 22:42
Arguably more coveted then the red/black/white Jordan 11’s, the infared Jordan VI is being brought back to life. There is still quite sometime left until they will physically hit shelves. But the 2010 Jordan release is one of the most talked about sneaker release so far this year.
