  • Shadow Project by Stone Island & Acronym

We’ve heard a lot about this exciting new project between Stone Island and Acronym, ‘Shadow Project’. Stone Island have launched the website for the new brand, which showcases the brand in its entirety, looking at each garment, and the inspirations behind both the individual garments and philosophy of the brand.

“Stone Island’s ‘Shadow Project’ began as a discourse between Sportswear Company owner and creative director Carlo Rivetti and the design team of Michaela Sachenbacher and Errolson Hugh, also known as ACRONYM®. • OPEN SPACE PRESENTS “Gaetane Michaux & Sighn”

Featuring Puzzle portraits of famous Street Artists and intricate typographic woodcuts on sustainable bamboo, this joint exhibition at New York’s Open Space Gallery, looks at two different styles of work both stemming from traditional Street Art inspirations. The show runs till the 7th of September, located 510 Main St, Beacon.

Sighn: Working booth in the streets and galleries alike, Sighn has been displaying his cut paper & wood phrases throughout Chicago. Recently, he embarked on a limited edition of 1 million hand cut pieces, that will take the next 30-50 years to complete.

Gaëtane Michaux: Gaëtane Michaux is an artist and architect from Brussels who lives and works in Brooklyn. If architecture is building, graphic design is the creation of images, and sculpture is the massaging of matter, then Gaëtane’s background in the three have left her interested in mixing up everything she sees. From street art to people, Gaëtane reconfigures what already exists in the world.
Combining photography, collage, and custom-made puzzles, Gaëtane creates new possibilities and adjacencies. Street art, street artists, movie posters, family and friends have all fallen victim to her x-acto blade, only to have their pieces mixed up with those of others, and finding themselves completely puzzled.

  • The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal

    YouTube Preview Image

This film is great, with graffiti removal now one of the most fascinating art movements of the 21st century. What makes this more interesting is the artist is totally unaware and unconscious of the creative production which stems from roots in abstract expressionism, minimalism, Russian constructivism. Thanks to Mare139 for bringing this to our attention, although the film was made in 2002 still very impressive and a must see if you haven’t.

  • R. Newbold x Goodhood Fall/Winter 2008 Collection

Kyle Stewart and Jo Sindle of Goodhood were asked to collaborate with Paul Smith’s brother R Newbold. R Newbold is a heavyweight player in Japan and is regarded with great respect by those in the fashion world due to its design ethos and credible heritage dating back to 1885,  so the decision was not a tough one to make for the goodhooders.

Working in close proximity with the R.Newbold team the Goodhood team endeavoured to make something that would reflect the synergy between
    the two brands.

The collection is based on mountaineering outerwear and has been produced in Japan, thus the quality is unsurpassed … technical gear was given the once over and then some by ‘Rab’ an exemplary figure in ‘British Outerwear’ to ensure zips and fastenings could stand a trip up Ben Nevis and not let in the perishing cold, let alone the shoreditch breezes !!!

The denim produced is in a slim fit with the Goodhood signature wonky text all over printed on the inside.

    Releases start of October!!!
