Kanye West – “Devil in a New Dress”
September 3rd 10, 21:52
And , for his latest installment of his 2 week old G.O.O.D. friday Kanye West gave us “Devil In A New Dress”. By no mean was it in our plans to cover every song to be released by G.O.O.D. music on every G.O.O.D. friday but “Devil In A New Dress” clearly deserves every bit of burn it will see on the blogs. This new old sounding Kanye is what many have asked for and he is delivering san his-I-don’t-know-what-you-would-call-it hiccup with Justin Biber. Enjoy.

Radiohead “Live in Praha” Free DVD
September 1st 10, 18:04
Radiohead is determined to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to evolving their music and presence as a band, so its by no mistake that they have came up with a way of involving their fan base in a way that is as much a documentary for them as artists as it is a fans ultimate dream. Radiohead – Live in Praha represents the Radiohead show that took place on August 23rd, 2009 in Prague while on their Rainbows tour. 50 flip-camera equipped fans filmed the show from their respective positions in the crowd. All of the film was then collected and edited down and presented by the band and the fans on a website. The site is pretty overran with traffic so a Youtube channel was created to show case the videos song by song. Truly a special project and one that shows that some people in the position in which that don’t have to care about their fan base still do.

I for one will be waiting patiently for the No Dj version to hit.

Nas “Power Paper & Pussy”
August 30th 10, 16:58
Off of the DJ Green Lantern’s Invasion radio 2K10 which dropped today “Power, Paper, & Pussy” sees Nas returns to the days of him sounding like someone took his lunch money in the school yard, nasty. A simply produced track from Salaam Remi and Nas himself, for how short the track is it carries much weight.

Kanye West ft. Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver, and Nicki Minaj – “Monster”
August 27th 10, 18:29
Kanye announced via his twitter page that this week would mark the start of G.O.O.D. Friday where he would release a track from an artist affiliated with his G.O.O.D. music label once a week til Christmas. Well that day is here and we are given ‘Monster’ which is now part of a 5 song album Kanye and Jay-Z will now be releasing named “Watch The Throne”. Now the track itself is some standard braggadocios material, but not being a big Nicki Minaj fan I have to now retract any statement I may have said about her previously as she clearly took the opportunity to completely black out on the track. See for your self but my excitement level for any Kanye West project has just risen just a bit with ‘Monster’.

Raekwon “Ason Jones” Trailer
August 27th 10, 8:27
One of the more touching songs off of Raekwon’s OB4CL2 has to be “Ason Jones”; the J. Dilla-produced O.D.B. tribute. Its been almost six years since O.D.B. passed, but Raekwon tells his story as if his passing was just days ago. Surely can’t wait for the full video to release, but for now here is its trailer. The OB4CL2: Gold Edition is available at iTunes now.

Introducing… Labrinth
August 12th 10, 20:47
Its not often you run into a talent that forces you to create a completly new category on your blog just to be able to make a formal introduction to the world but here we are. The talent, Labrinth the 21 year old producer, composer, and writer who hales from the UK. His talent wasn’t immediately apparent until further research led me to the massive hit he has produced this year, ‘Pass Out’, and ‘Frisky’ performed by equality brilliant Tinie Tempah, but it didn’t stop there. Recently signed to Syco (Simon Cowell’s record label) Labrinth has solo career aspirations that by judging from the pieces he has let go to other artist or their project will be pretty devestating. He is reading the release of his first single ‘Let The Sun Shine’ which is featured further in the reading and has already garnered serious praise from any and everyone who has heard it in it entirety. If you dig deeper you find his Transmission video logs, which give an, albeit Avant Garde, look at Labrinth and his music. Be fair warned the videos are a trip unto themselves but interesting none the less. So salute to you Labrinth thank you for forcing our hand and creating our newly formed Introducing monolog. So without further adieu Introducing… Labrinth.

Kanye West featuring Beyoncè & Charlie Wilson “See Me Now”
August 11th 10, 18:38
The rest of the world may not have caught the ever boisterous Kanye West interview this morning on New York’s Hot 97 where he unleashed “See Me Now”, the latest track to leak from the upcoming yet set-in-stone titled project, now we all can take a listen. Courtesy of his more common man sensible blog Kanye released “See Me Now” which in his interview earlier today he mentioned was freshly minted from the studio. Yes the song features Beyoncè and your mom may love the track because of Charlie Wilson’s presence, but what I think is really the most important aspect of the track is the sound, the return of the Kanye West from his early music many thought had been long forgotten. This proves other wise, solid but lets hope for more.

Riding the wave that comes with having your first full length studio album released Japanese Cartoon, the punk, politically jaring subculture indy band comprised of famed mc Lupe Fiasco as well as Le Messie from the indy singapore Label False, have begun to see the light at the end of the tunnel for their grand scheme. The band’s very existence has been one of mystery with press coming in scarce bunches and music coming in waves of a even more sporadic nature, yet they have managed to challenge an niche group of individuals with their heavy sounds and hyper charged lyrics. We were able to sit down with the group for their first full length interview and pick the brains of two of it’s spearheads, while trying to dive into the make up and ultimate message of Japanese Cartoon.

Kanye West “Power” Video
August 5th 10, 20:16
I’m sure by now you all have seen the behind the scenes making of the latest single from Kanye West, a commissioned piece from the extraordinary visual artist Marco Brambilla. The baroque-esqe hyper visual collage piece depicting Mr. West in a abstract surreal setting. we can now present to you the visual treat in all of its glory and it is one you will have to run back a few times to catch the masterfully composed setting. Always one to up the ante and never shy away from risk we say Mr. West has clearly raised the bar yet again. We now present “Power”…

Trilly & Truly 2010: “Basic Info” Video Lookbook
August 4th 10, 20:39
The Trilly & Trully line has seen a few releases mainly as capsule collections throughout its existance, as the brand’s spearhead Lupe Fiasco has gone the route of quality vs. quantity. The latest collection entitled “Basic Info” speaks to the three principles Lupe hold dear Peace, Anarchy, and History, with each represented by pieces directly relying upon each message. Although the collection has been released for a bit the full lookbook video conducted with support from RSVP Gallery has now surfaced bringing the collection to life, and allowing Lupe to speak upon its meaning.

Japanese Cartoon ‘In the Jaws of the Lords of Death’ Album
July 16th 10, 17:00
Japanese Cartoon has become this mythical project with speculations based on the bands on and off again confirmed members list to weather an full length project would ever surface, and what would said project sound like. Well after much doubt the band known as Japanese Cartoon, featuring SlamxHype family Le Messie of False Brand and Lupe Fiasco, with a guest appearance made Ian Astbury (The New Order Issue 1), have released their debaut full length project “In The Jaws of the Lords of Death” for free via their All Sabatage site. The project itself is a bit of a anomaly as it sound isn’t anything close to what your casual Lupe Fiasco fan would be familiar with. Heavy punk, indy rock with political under tones steer the albums content, rebellious brash and through provoking all in on breath. All in all a great project which many may be steered away from but in this day and age its refreshing to see a stance taken and played its coarse as this album surely does; a job well done.
