February 3rd 10, 8:19
Balabushka Remnants have released a range of denim goods at the honeyee store. It’s definitely not the first time we’ve seen Japanese labels do heritage workwear, often producing goods that are on par if not even better than the original labels. With so many labels put under the spot light at the moment, it seems that Balabushka Remnants have managed to slip under the radar for some time. It’s great that we are now able to see more of the label through honeyee. The release consists of a range of 10z denim goods from their “Noble Savege” Collection, ranging from a boston bag and engineer cap to denim coveralls and overall workjeans. Take a look below.Take a look at the rest of the release at Honeyee or a look at their site here.

Boo Saville Ghost Prints
February 1st 10, 1:51
The intricate and intense death-themed artwork of UK artist Boo Saville caught our attention recently, and is quickly becoming a favorite of ours here at slamxhype amongst other artists of the New Gothic Art movement the likes of Banks Violette, Terrence Koh and David Noonan.
Saville, fascinated by the decomposition of the human body after death, creates intricate works of art from images of dead bodies gleaned on the internet and from books. Preoccupied with restoring such temporal moments of death back into lively objects. Her work deals with the archetypes, symbolism and rituals around how we experience images of death and how these images have a totemic quality. What I find most fascinating are her early biro on paper drawings that portrays compellingly dark and gothic imagery. Executed with fine rendering techniques in monochromatic colors; the intricate details of the work really captures the feel of death, and is immediately apparent to the viewer.
Available now on othercriteria are her Ghost monoprints that have been disrupted by being drawn on, burned or cut, in many ways changing the mark making process and adding an element of risk to the coherence of the final image. The monoprints are titled ‘Ghost’ a suggestion of the transient, fluid nature of this process and a play on its obvious, more macabre, reference.
Check out the rest of the monoprints here. Or visit Boo Saville’s blog and profile on Saatchi Online.

January 30th 10, 11:02
Undercover’s highly anticipated collaborative store with Japan’s virtual retail giant, Zozo.jp has finally made it’s grand opening this weekend. Bringing online an extensive range of products from Undercover’s “Less is Better” 2010 S/S Collection (shown last year at Pitti Uomo 76 in Florence), also with it some great imagery of the product details as well as a styled lookbook. Along with the store opening will be a limited run capsule collection that consists of a range of backpacks, tees, sneakers and crash denim. The Dieter Rams inspired collection has seen a fair amount of attention over the past year, partly because it was a new source of influence for Undercover, but moreover that fact that Jun Takahashi was really able to live up to Dieter Rams’ name in terms of the aesthetic and functional aspect of the collection. The introduction of the range to an official online retailer will possibly open a lot of doors for both the highly sought after label as well as it’s consumers. Great news for everyone. Henrik Vibskov Fall/Winter 2010 Collection Video
January 26th 10, 16:22

Henrik Vibskov’s Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection was showcased last Thursday at Paris fashion week. Displayed in Vibskov’s distinctively playful and unconventional manner, the show saw the models slowly float around three wooden sculptures to an ambient space music in the background. With hints of highland-inspiration suggested by the oversized knits and kilts, then came the colorful patchworked pants, argyle patterned high socks and customized Grenson boots. Mirrored eyewear and a brain looking hat also held presence through out the show. A well put together collection with a mix of colorful deconstruction pieces as well as wearable classics like the mac coat and suit jackets, one that is likely to further solidify Vibskov and Scandinavia’s position in the industry. Take a look at Dazed and Confused’s interview with Vibskov about the collection here. -
Perks And Mini Autumn/Winter 2010 Lookbook Preview
January 21st 10, 22:27
Misha from P.A.M. gave us a sneak preview of their Autumn/Winter 2010 lookbook, working together with longterm Perks and Mini collaborators (2many DJ’s), Love Fingers, and other’s on location in Melbourne. The collection looks to be one that we can definitely look forward to!
Here’s what Misha has to say about the collection:
“…..so before you admit, “I AM A LASAGNA HOG!” think about it backwards…..”!GO HANG A SALAMI” will come to mind (obviously ; ) The whole world’s made up of opposites and similarities: ups/downs, (uppers/downers), in/outs, GOOD/BAD. You need that balance. Without Ying there aint no Yang. Where there’s George, sometimes there’s Tilda.
Italo music: is it the best? or the worst?? or both??????You can see where we’re going, and where the new PAM AW2010/11 is taking us……GOOD/BAD is no more, it’s the combo of both that makes our world go round.
GOOD things about PAM AW2010: cool graphics, nice knits, new labeling(featuring Fergadelic’s foray into Vogueing)(let your body move to da music), Japanese fabrics: denim and mens shirting, canvas and performance nylons. Also soft soft cotton, and soft soft BAMBOO cotton. Cool hats!!!(Lasagna), bags, totes (great for fruit shopping, vinyl DJing, camping, city life!)…etcetc
The BAD bits: a whole new level to BAD graphics! (Good!!), and ……. well, actually, NOTHING bad!!! Which is pretty GOOD!”
Thanks for the heads up Misha!

Banksy Film: Exit Through The Gift Shop | Trailer Video
January 21st 10, 2:19
Banksy, a name which we’re very familiar with is set to debut his first film this month at the Sundance Film Festival. Titled “Exit Through The Gift Shop”, the film is billed as “the world’s first street art disaster movie”, and described by organizers as “…an amazing ride, a cautionary modern fairy tale . . . with bolt cutters.”. This will be the first time the elusive artist, will appear on film. (his publicists have stated however that his identity will not be revealed and only his voice will be heard.)
While “Exit Through The Gift Shop” was left off the official programme, it’s inclusion in the festival has been shrouded in secrecy. Initial speculation about the festival’s Spotlight Surprise turned to Banksy after four stencils, believed to be by the artist, appeared on walls in Park City, where the festival is held. Not surprising, given his notoriety for teasing his audience, toying with authority, and continually pulling the wool over people’s eyes to stage unexpected stunts.
His satirical humor and brash social commentary has won the hearts of many over the years, as he continually adopts new mediums of expression; from the stencil and spray can, to life-size statues, animatronic installations in 08, to mysteriously installed full museum exhibitions earlier in 09. The film will be a new medium yet again for Banksy, and I’m sure we’ll all be in for an impressive surprise as he has proven time and time again.
“Exit Through The Gift Shop” will host its world premiere at the festival on Sunday as the Sundance Spotlight Surprise (full screening times here.). It is described as the story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on him. Banksy said: “It’s the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed”. Banksy’s publicist told the guardian, “It’s a film about a man who tried to make a film about me. Everything in it is true, especially the bits where we all lie.”
From the looks of the video, it seems that other notable street artists the likes of Shepard Fairey, Mr. A (Andre), Space Invaders and a few others will be featured as well. In the past, Banksy has both mythologised and subverted his own image, so the film could raise as many questions as it answers. John Cooper, director of the Sundance Festival, said the story was so bizarre that he questioned whether it could be real. ”Exit Through The Gift Shop is one of those films that comes along once in a great while, a warped hybrid of reality and self-induced fiction while at the same time a totally entertaining experience,” he added.
For those that can’t make it to the festival “Exit Through The Gift Shop” is due to open in UK cinemas on 5 March.
Take a look at the Trailer below.
