Angelique Groh has posted this great interview with the amazingly talented Natalia Fabia in our ‘Blogs’ section, but I felt that this deserves some front page treatment. Fabia just had a very successful opening for her solo exhibition titled “Hooker DreamEscape” over at The Corey Helford Gallery this past weekend with works focused on the beautiful ladies that are in her life, be it friends or girls from around the way. Be sure to check the interview here.
KAWS mania has been running rampant the last few days here in Los Angeles to a point where people that have never even set foot through the doors of any galleries felt compelled to see the spectacle first hand. I knew it was going to be insane seeing how everyone’s Twitter “tweets” were all declaring their intentions to check out the show, so I sat this one out so that I could check the show another day sans the massive crowd. Luckily, my friend Keith Marzo of DC Lifestyle was on hand to snap a few images of some of the amazing work that was on display. Chum was in full effect, as well as some Smurf — or rather, “Kurfs” — paintings, the colored busts of the artist’s head, and other works were all exhibited, and as expected, they were all long sold out.
Three styles of adidas O by O designed by Kazuki have hit stores recently and we would like to throw a glimpse of them your way. Kazuki designed three different styles: the MT Boot, ZXZ Waterproof and the K Jobb, and I must say that he did a great job with them. I especially enjoy the K Jobb for its simple design and the materials used, as the leather appears to be somewhat vintage and of high quality. The other two offerings are nice as well and are all functional in their own ways.
Time has put up some images in their ‘Photos’ section that were taken by Boogie from during his recent travels to Belgrade. Boogie also provides commentary on each photo, as they spark many memories of the photographer’s youth. The photos also are from Boogie’s book, Belgrade Belongs to Me.
Flux has just announced that they have added Become a Microscope – 90 Statements on Sister Corita by Aaron Rose as part of their screening next Wednesday the 25th at the Hammer Museum. This new short film by Rose will be featured along with PSSST! 3 and 2 new N.A.S.A. music videos. I am especially excited for the two music videos from N.A.S.A., which are for “Gifted,” a song that features Kanye West, Santogold and Lykke Li and “A Volta,” which was done in collaboration with The Date Farmers.
Nike Sportswear will be releasing its Liberty Dunk Hi and Blazer next weekend with the Dunk Hi being made available at Nike Sportswear at the Montalbán in Los Angeles and 21 Mercer Street in New York City as well as select Nike Sportswear retailers, while the Liberty Blazer can be found exclusively at Opening Ceremony in New York and Los Angeles. Last year’s Liberty Dunk was a huge hit and I am sure that this year’s release will match the success of its predecessor. The Blazer, which has seen a huge spike in terms of popularity over the last few years for men, looks great with its Liberty makeover for the female consumer.
