Dashing Tweeds is Britain’s latest tweed textile company. Opening up a contemporary arena for a classic quality fabric, Dashing Tweeds has created a range of tweeds for the 21st century, designed by photographer Guy Hills and weaver Kirsty McDougall.
The Urban Tweeds range is inspired by the colours of London, from the wet pavements of Piccadilly to the green parks of St. James’. For colour fidelity samples of double yellow-lines and red routes were chiselled up and replicated to produce the yarn shades of the city.
First up of interest is The Cycle Suit tailored by Kashkets. Using the Urban Check tweed design which is from the reflective LumatwillTM range. This tweed has the added benenfit of Teflon coating, which prevents the tweed soaking up water if one gets caught in a shower. The design includes specially cut cycling plus 5s which button up the sides, and a very clever action back to allow one to bend over down over the handbars when pedaling hard.
Next up, and my particular favourite, The Cape! Designed by Erin Lewis, top graduate from the London College of Fashion and tailored by Davies and Sons Savile Row. Looking super, whether drinking a beer outside a streetart opening or weaving through rush hour traffic.
Limited numbers are available in grey Lumatwill for £450.00
Zipped and useful front pockets. Teflon treated, a must for this autumn.
