LOVE loves the internet and all things digital almost as much as magazines, and in addition to the extra LOVE on offer at thelovemagazine.co.uk, the new issue of the magazine has an accompanying iPad app, available to download for free.

Commenting on LOVE’s new media capability, Editor-in-Chief Katie Grand says: “As the printed page becomes more valuable as a home for iconic images, we wanted to seize the moment to play with iPads and see what we could create for this technological magical wonderment box.  We bring all the quality and consideration to the iPad app that we do to print, while celebrating the exciting possibilities the movement and interaction of the digital form can offer.”

Grand continues: “I’m super excited about seeing fashion move, I’ve always been obsessed with the short films Guy Bourdin made in the seventies and I’ve enjoyed the challenge of making short fashion films to accompany LOVE.  Whilst printed magazines definitely have their place in history as well as the future, moving image will make a great friend and ally.”

The internet has changed the way we interact with information and entertainment: the printed page is now less disposable, and more valuable as a place for iconic images, while the way we process images and information is constantly evolving to keep up with the speed of the internet.  So, the with the iPad, LOVE has seized the opportunity to work in an exciting new medium, where things can have the quality and consideration of a printed page, but the exciting movement and interaction of the Internet.  We’re thinking of it as kind of a step beyond what you can do with print.

On the LOVE iPad, a series of moving image projects that relate to the content of the issue will be presented, shot by photographers who include: Willy Vanderperre, Alasdair McLellan, Angelo Pennetta, Liz Collins and Phil Poynter, and starring: Abbey Clancy, Ana Beatriz, Elle Macpherson, Laetitia Casta, Dree Hemingway, Agyness Deyn, Liv Tyler, and Veruschka.  And some rabbits.  And some boobs.  And loads of others.  All interspersed with fun, multimedia contributions from special celebrity guests.

The Gorgeous Issue of LOVE, published by Condé Nast, comes out 23 August with the LOVE iPad app available simultaneously to download for free from thelovemagazine.co.uk or the Apple iTunes store.
