The other night while on a neverending quest checking out and learning about new and/or interesting music through the www (unfortunateIy I don’t get to dig much these days), I bumped into a mix album by DJ Wessun of Do-Hyo Orizin, a very dope Hip Hop collective from the Osaka prefecture in Japan.
What’s more, the cd was produced to commemorate Amsterdam’s Rush Hour recordstore’s 10th anniversary (they’re situated right behind Patta by the way) and the cover art is done by the homie Delta. Since I slept and the cd has been out for a while, I hit up my man Christiaan (who is one of the owners) and he hooked me up with a copy today, and it’s dope!
I love it when DJ’s get creative with original mixing, skillfully weaving a selection of music into a unique soundscape. Not too many DJ’s are able to create such mixes while piqueing my interest throughout the entire listen (shout to J-Rocc!), but that doesn’t apply here. Try to grab yourself a copy!
