The Voice of the Ghetto StayHigh 149
I just received a great new book documenting the life of legendary graffiti writer and pioneer Stay High 149. This book chronicles the life of the writer who many cite as having used the first “logo” in graffiti writing, a craftily modified version of the classic stick man which was the signature of the 60′s TV show “The Saint” played by Roger Moore.
The book was put together by Sky Farrell and Chris Pape working directly with the artist to bring the entirety of his unique story to life for the first time.
I had the fortune to meet Sky last year (who is an artist herself) and it’s clear that this is the work of one artist inspired by another, albeit coming from very different backgrounds and styles of work.
a must read for all lovers of graf and NYC street culture.
