The new year has coincided with the 30th anniversary of one of the most iconic silhouettes from Nike, the Air Force 1. The Nike Air Force 1 Low 30th Anniversary Collection first release has seen these two takes on the classic design come to fruition with a tonal black and a tonal white design highlighted by the use of various materials come to fruition.

The black piece employs a denim fabric almost all over the shoes, including the midsoles! Black nubuck leather is used for the swooshes, on the heels and as piping around the panels, again providing rather interesting details for a basic colourway.

The white versions features uppers constructed mainly from 3M light reflective synthetic leather, while the translucent soles are slightly off-white, which makes for subtle contrast to a simple colour scheme.

Here is an impressive collaboration between compatriots EFFECTOR and Balabushka Remnants. The outcome has seen Balabushka Remnants apply three renditions of the “fuzz-No.5″ frame with great distinction. With cognac, matte black and black in production this promises to be a successful release.

Gourmet released their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection today which makes use of their unique silhouettes and great color palette. As they are still a relatively new footwear brand, they’ve done a great job of re-imagining what a modern day sneaker can look like. For this season a lot of models return in bright and muted colors with some usage of Camouflage and Leopard Print. My personal favorite if not only for originality is the newly released Dignan in a great polka dot/patent leather mix.

Continuing their relationship together Opening Ceremony has unveiled their Spring/Summer collection with shirt makers Gitman Brothers. Keeping with their playful personality Opening Ceremony decided on some whimsical prints on Poplin and colorful Madras shirts. Also, exclusive to the collection is a shirt for Valentine’s day featuring a heart motif. My personal favorite being the “Black Rabbit Shroom” shirt.

With NY full of buzz from fashion week we have begun to see some very promising collections from names we’ve all been accustomed to seeing garner great praise from the runway. One label, Public School whom we’ve seen bubbling for a few years now within the New York fashion scene has seen their stock risen a bit with the presentation of their Eugene Tong styled NYFW debut collection for the upcoming Autumn/Winter season. Designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne have combined their two unique perspectives of fashion to produce an collection rich in inspiration and full style without becoming overbearing. Although not as brash as some may expect from a NYFW debut there is a youthful sophistication to the collection; a rebel with a cause.

Our People silhouette is hand-covered in fine Italian leather, juxtaposed with a unique Carl Zeiss electric blue faded lens, created especially for this project. The Robert Geller Fall/Winter 2012 Collection is defined by inspiration from English Punk, more specifically from listening to early eighties post-punk band The Sound. Combining slim and oversized silhouettes and a casual approach to tailoring this makes for another bold statement from the NYC based designer. Key elemenst see greys, olives and charcoals making much of the pallet of colors while accented by yellow and orange while notable fabrics include sweat, waxed cottons and cable knitwear, all in all making for a sophisticated installation.

Scott Sternberg’s mind was on ol’ Mexico and the rugged American Southwest when designing the Band of Outsiders Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. Highlighted by the use of damaged denim, down jackets and coats, the use of corduroy and shades like orange, yellow and red these are all elements that define the collection.

German car manufacturers BMW have unveiled the iconic M6 Coupe for next year this week. The sportier version of the car, the M6 keeps the engine, transmission, and electronic gadgetry specifications from the four-door version although the configured to specifications for the two-door edition comparable to the original M 635 CSi from the 1970′s. The 2013 model features a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that outputs 560 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque to the pavement through their massive 19-inch alloy wheels and electronic “Active-M” limited-slip differentials. Specifications of the transmission include a seven-speed dual-clutch sequential manual gearbox, with a fully manual configuration in consideration for a later release.
