Acne Studios Presents ‘Bruce of Los Angeles Rodeo’
Acne Studios expands its collection of in-house printed matter with the announcement of its second book, Bruce of Los Angeles Rodeo, curated by renowned American photography writer and critic Vince Aletti. Bruce Bellas, better known as Bruce of Los Angeles, was one of America’s most prolific photographers of the male nude. Pioneering the eroticised approach to beefcake that came to be known as physique photography of the 1940s and ’50s, Bellas continued to influence the field well into the 1970s. The handsome 190-page volume presents a counterpart to Bellas’ stylised nudes, wherein real cowboys are depicted casually dressed and relaxing between bronco busting or bull riding performances at Western rodeos in the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. Printed in a limited edition of 500, there are 20 copies signed by Vince Aletti for sale exclusively at Acne Studios.
