There are few professional sportsmen who evoke the same colorful connotations as Allen Iverson. An insanely talented ball player who defined his own style on-court and off, while also playing the controversy game like a pro, Iverson wasn’t your typical All-Star. From an impoverished childhood in Hampton, Virginia to an undisputed success story and eleven-time NBA All-Star, there’s no denying the Iverson is a legend. The story of his come-up is now detailed in Iverson, a new documentary set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 27. Largely told through Iverson’s own words and featuring key figures from his life and career, the film is from first-time director Zatella Beatty. We’ll be watching it. You should too.
