Blackbird – the new auto-focused publication from Japan’s SILLY THING – presents an inspiring and powerful look at the work of American photographer Richard Kelley, who for the most part of his career has documented the sport and culture of Formula One Grand Prix racing. In his work, Kelley has always emphasized the human aspect of the pit lanes, where he finds drivers engaged with their pit crew, or simply all alone, waiting for a race to start. Narrated by Kelley himself, Blackbird‘s short film is a rare depiction of the tension and bliss of lives lived on the cusp.
