Considering how far special effects have come in the past 10 years, a lot of us have been wondering when to expect a more modern release of the monster movie classic Godzilla.
The last time they attempted a Godzilla movie was 14 years ago. It was called Godzilla 2000, and it was embarrassing, a scalding hot turd of a film. To be fair, that was a pre-Avatar world, when Disney/Pixar 3D animations were just scratching the surface of their capabilities, these days a couple hundred million bucks and some computers can turn any crazy idea into a live-action masterpiece that feels as real as your own reflection.
This is only a teaser, so we don’t get to see exactly how the story is structured, but it’s enough to get psyched. We definitely approve casting Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen, so here’s to hoping that director Gareth Edwards nails this one.
