The official trailer for Beastie Boy Adam Yauch’s feature length basketball documentary Gunnin’ for That #1 Spot is now online. Yauch’s first non-concert feature film documents the 2006 Elite 24 HS All-American Classic street tournament, where 24 of the game’s top prospects were brought to NY’s famed Rucker Park for a free wheeling all-star shootout that celebrated the pure enjoyment and passion of the game. For the first time players were able to compete in this type of tournament on merit rather than school year, and without being hindered by the politics of sneaker affiliation.

Gunnin’ for That #1 Spot opens in US theaters on June 27. The trailer is up online here in lo res, hi res and full HD (note this is the full trailer, not the condensed teaser that was up on YouTube around the time of the film’s premiere at the Tribeca film festival).

Check out Bounce mag too for Bobbito Garcia’s take on the film. Bobbito actually appears in the picture and gets to call the game action live. He says he went "bonkeraroonie" on the mic. Probably worth catching the film just to find out what that means!
