Perhaps most famous for creating the image of “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” and the two fingers touching above earth’s surface is designer John Alvin. The creator of more than 135 well know movie posters, billboards and advertisements died on Wednesday at his home in Rhinebeck, N.Y. the cause was a heart attack. He was 59 and his resume includes work for the likes of directors like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Blake Edwards, Mel Brooks and Ridley Scott.
