Stone Island Open First UK Stand Alone Store
In the heart of London’s Covent Garden, Stone Island has opened its first UK stand alone store. Showcasing the best of Stone Island and Stone Island denims over 450 cleverly designed square feet the store incorporates custom made design with clean contemporary and functional detail. Listed architectural elements are fused with the modern high octane design working in perfect synergy with the garments displayed.
The LED Light box logos at the front of the store change colours to reflect the Stone Island colour palette seasonally. The Stores concept is based on an identity project is called “Item/Unit” and has been invented, designed and engineered by Marc Bhure, owner of the German design company Zeichenweg TM, which gives total layout flexibility.
Stainless steel square pedestals (Item) laid on a stainless steel floor are the core element of the project. Pedestals hold luminous fibre glass and oak and carbon “sabres” (units) as a support for the clothing bars and are also used as window and island display. Lighting is supplied Erco.
Dibond® shelves are covered black felt and take inspiration from nautical systems. The marriage of innovative materials such as stainless steel, carbon, fibre glass with oiled oak wood and felt oak wood, blends state of the art technology and human touch. Stone Island has developed this concept in stores in Milan, Rome, Verona, Tokyo, Seoul, China and now London, Covent Garden.
