Megan Marrin creates collaged paintings, her newest series of works is on display at Petra Projects, NYC, and runs through to March 8th. The New York based artist…"found inspiration in a three-hundred-fifty-year-old Appalachian fable called "Two Sisters." The story runs parallel to the biblical tale of Cain and Abel, and serves as a fitting background for the eerie tones and haunting silhouettes in Marrin’s work. Here she has taken found photography from estate sales and flea markets and collaged them over top of abstract paintings in grey, white, and soft lilac. In Outside Rooms, the artist plays with shape and shadow, creating a spatial illusion of a country kitchen with an ominous figure lurking outside the window. Marrin’s selection of found artwork pushes a particular sense of anonymous violence, cloaking the series in a subtle darkness. " Quote : V Magazine.
