Your Game 2008 – football, graffiti and the Swiss Embassy
Your Game 2008 is a
social inclusion initiative aimed at young people in the UK, jointly organised
by the Football Foundation and the BBC (the broadcasting corporation, not the other one…). The venture
offers young people aged 16 to 25 from under-served communities the chance to get involved in football, music and the media. For the launch night, the Swiss Embassy in central London opened the doors to its underground carpark to host the event. What seemed at first like a strange choice of venue was revealed in fact to be a treature trove of graffiti and street art, providing a good backdrop for the launch event’s displays of dancing and freestyle football. In 2001, it seems, the Swiss Embassy invited Banksy and other graffiti artists to decorate the walls and pillars of the carpark in an attempt at
