Peter Saville Explains Joy Division’s ‘Unknown Pleasures’ Album Art
Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures album has one of the most iconic covers of all time. In this video, former Factory Records graphic designer Peter Saville talks about the origins of the cover image, in anticipation of the Visualized Conference soon to be held in New York on November 8 – 9, 2012. The line drawing is actually an illustration of the signal frequency from the first observed ‘pulsar’ or pulsating star, which Saville found in the Cambridge Encyclopedia of Astronomy.
