Thoughtful, all-but-unknown London singer Sampha has next to nothing in common with the king of pop rap. But when Drake tapped him for his “Too Much” single, the two musicians made magic, crafting the most authentically emotive track on Nothing Was The Same. The problem with “Too Much”, however, is that Drake doesn’t understand what it’s supposed to be about. Instead of discussing lost love like Sampha so beautifully sets him up to do, he launches into a rambling history lesson about his come up. Now, Sampha has ramped up the melancholy romance of “Too Much”, dropping Drake all together and shooting a simple, red-lit performance video for effect.

Sampha’s version hits iTunes next Tuesday and a 7-inch vinyl single featuring “Too Much” and “Happens” arrives January 6th. Pre-order via Young Turkshere.
