Yet again another great Cinema Tuesday event at Nike Sportswear at The Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood. The night was dedicated to a very special screening of Charlie Kaufman’s latest piece of cult cinema “Synecdoche, New York” on Tuesday, October 21st. The pre-screening party was buzzing with the word that producer of the film Spike Jonze along with lead actor Tom Noonan were presenting the film. During the introduction, Charlie Kaufman even sent a text message to Spike which said ” I have nothing to say, I’m tired, please enjoy the movie” while Tom Noonan did his best impersonation of Charlie Kaufman.

Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener, and Tom Noonan, “Synecdoche New York” is Charlie’s directorial debut. He previously was the mastermind writer behind films like “Adaptation”, “Being John Malkovich”, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. This time Charlie tackles subjects like struggle, creativity, psychosis and everyday life. New York theater director Caden Cotard whose wife Adele Lack leaves him to pursue her art career in Berlin takes his only daughter Olive with her, thus creating a deep trauma while Caden is staging a new play in a giant Manhattan warehouse where he replicates New York along with its population – himself, his assistants, actors and lovers. It’s definitely an interesting film, and those who enjoyed Charlie Kaufman’s previous work will find it as interesting and twisted as before, maybe just a little different… more inside Kaufman’s head. An exclusive art show “Small Miracles” featuring the works of Adele Lack whose micro-paintings appeared in the film debuted at The Montalbáns gallery. Luckily for attendants magnifying lenses were provided.

“Synecdoche, New York” opened in theaters on October 24th.

We are happy to present exclusive interview with one of the lead actors Tom Noonan by Yevgeniy Shukhman coming in a few days time.
