With the announcement of the iPhone 5 on everyone’s minds today, there is still a wave of new things to be unveiled, such as the Apple Earpods. The white ear buds have become iconic, arguably representing a more Mobile and connected lifestyle that most of the world currently lives. Jonathan Ive, Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple spearheaded the project and sought to remake what defined an era, but ultimately aging design. The new Earpods have a directed speaker port that points forward into your ear canal. Ive states “The shape of the EarPod is actually defined by the geometry of your ear, but they don’t create a seal the way other in-ear headphones do.” The back port handles mid-tones, a port near the stem, and the main port which points directly into your ear. The beautifully designed Earpods start shipping today as a standalone product, they will come included with the new iPod Touch, Nano, and iPhone 5 through Apple. Thanks to Engadget for the info.
