Architect Frank Gehry has designed a new building for Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward, the neighbourhood most devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This is the only Gehry-designed home in Louisiana and one of only 22 in the US. The 1780 sq ft home has been designed for maximum privacy between homes, and features a well-proportioned front garden, a 510 sq ft roof terrace and natural flow between interior spaces. Speaking about the project, Gehry said: “I really believe in what Brad is doing for the community and was honored to be included… I wanted to make a house that I would like to live in and one that responded to the history, vernacular and climate of New Orleans. I love the colors that the homeowner chose. I could not have done it better.” (HUH)
