Google has extended its cartography efforts to include the great indoors in addition to its extensive outdoor mapping programme. The new Indoor Maps feature has launched in the UK in time for the Olympics (they probably anticipate a lot of lost tourists) and has maps of 40 initial locations including airports, shopping malls and the National Theatre – with more to be added. The feature is integrated within Google Maps – android users just have to zoom in on a building to activate the feature. Building owners can also upload their maps to be added to the feature.
