On Sunday night, Terry Richardson took his camera and high-powered flash out of his SoHo studio and into the world of Lady Gaga’s artRave. What’s an artRave? Great question. After guests were ushered onto a ferry and then transported to an “undisclosed location” — a Brooklyn Warehouse. They soon found themselves surrounded by a pulsating circus of red carpet flashes, EDM lights, and models with perfect bone structure. The space was filled with face-melting attractions, most notably a flying dress named VOLANTIS, a gaggle of Jeff Koons sculptures, and an inverse-eyepatch-wearing Gaga.
Some of Gaga’s actual music made it into the show too, as she performed stuff from her new album, ARTPOP. Listen to that stuff here.
(Note to other people throwing parties: boat rides to undisclosed locations are awesome)
