It was all the back to the 1920’s when Adi and Rudolf Dassler started making sports shoes together, going on to huge success over the next 28 years before they went their seperate ways in 1948. Its said that the split was over political differences post World War II, which of course split Germany also. Not only did the brothers go seperate ways, but it set a divide amongst followers of the 2 brands too.

Monday the 21st of  September will see employees of both companies shake hands and then play a football match. In this day in age of corporate competitiveness this is refreshing to see, much like the reference back to the foundations of these now huge companies. I often think about how important it is for us to remember many of the large iconic brands we all judge on their success, actually stem from family run independant start ups.
