Visual remixer Eclectic Method has focused his attention on the culture of sampling in his latest video, taking us on a ride through some of “the most noted breaks and riffs of the decades.”

From The Beatles‘ use of the Mellotron in the ’60s through to the popularization of  hip hop and dance music in the ’70s and ’80s, sampling in 2014 is as much a part of music as the institution of mp3s and online streaming. Thus, the video accompanies each break with an informative visual, showing how the break has been sampled into various tracks.

Fans of both the originals and the tracks that sampled them will recognize a few of these — and the rest are there to uncover.
