Sade are preparing to release a new album in February 2010, and in doing so have already released their first single. The album and single are both entitled “Soldier of Love” and enjoy the same soulful sound which is a unique combination of soul, jazz, R&B, quiet storm, soft rock paved the way for lead singer Sade Adu to win a Grammy. This album will be Sade’s first instalment in 10 years, but take nothing away from her because the first signs are impressive.
Soldier of Love
Sade was formed in 1982, when members of a Latin soul band Pride – Helen Folasade Adu, Stuart Matthewman, and Paul Spencer Denman – together with Paul Anthony Cook formed a splinter group and began to write their own material. In 1983, Andrew Hale joined the band, though Cook left in 1984. Sade, named for the moniker of their lead singer, made their debut in December 1982 at Ronnie Scott’s Club in London, in support of Pride and the success to come was built on this.
The tracks which enjoyed huge success in the 80’s and 90’s are countless and below are some of her most prominent singles from this era of Sade’s career.
