The National Perform “Sorrow” for Six Hours Straight at MoMA PS1
As a part of MoMA PS1’s Sunday Sessions, The National have performed “Sorrow”, from their 2010 album, High Violet. Not just that, they have performed the song over and over again for six consecutive hours. The work of Icelandic artist, Ragnar Kjartansson, entitled ‘A Lot Of Sorrow’, the piece explores “potential of repetitive performance to produce sculptural presence within sound” by stretching out one song into a day-long performance. Undoubtedly a romantic notion, tickets were $15, but you now find several recordings of the show here.
