the-xx

One of the best new bands to come out of the UK last year was The XX.  Their debut album “XX” found its way to the top of many magazines end of year charts with an amazingly atmospheric, intimate and fragile sound that sits somewhere between indie art rock and R’n'B, and their 2-step/UK garage inspired remake of the entirely bland Florence and the Machine cover of “You’ve got the love” was one of 09′s dancefloor hits.

To celebrate their success the band have collaborated with acclaimed video director Saam Farahmand to create a unique audio-visual instillation “XX: the sculpture of the album” which creates a 3D physical interpretation” of the album.  The sculpture utilises film, light and sound via three specially created audio-visual units (each unit representing one member of the band with a mix of exclusively filmed footage and mixed sound), and every visitor will enjoy  a totally unique experience of XX.  According to the press release, it’s nothing less than a totally new way to immerse yourself in a record.

“XX: the sculpture of the album” will be displayed at The Vinyl Factory in London until January 12, 2010.
