American artist and Unholy Matrimony designer, Brett Westfall, recently completed his most prolific work to date by collaborating with Rei Kawakubo on 16 pieces for the Spring/Summer 2009 Comme des Garcons Homme Plus line. The line, which is the crown jewel for CDG men, is another stellar collection from the world’s most prestigious fashion label. The cutting edge Westfall collaborated with Kawakubo on 10 jackets, 4 pants, and 2 men’s skirts for Homme Plus, with 8 pieces recently debuting on the Paris runway. Each piece is so intricately designed that they can only be recreated by Westfall’s hands, which will lead to the designer returning to Tokyo for an unspecified length of time to complete the task of producing these elaborate pieces.
It was a dream come true for this Southern California native as he got to work along side his favorite artist of all time, the enigmatic and legendary Rei Kawakubo. The pair bonded as if they were kindred spirits and their preternatural abilities led to the collection we see before us. The collection will be available at all Comme des Garcons stores worldwide, as well as all shops that carry CDG Homme Plus.
