Chan Marshall, known to the world as Cat Power, is remembered first, by some, for her self-depricating performances and tearful exits from shows. However, it has been clear for many from the beginning, that Cat Power is the real thing. And having emerged from alcohol addiction, this writer and performer has reached a new maturity and emotional power, if you can excuse the pun. Her latest release, Juke Box, released on Matador Records on January 22nd, is an album of covers. Her raw and incomparable southern voice breathe new life into the songs of Bob Dylan, Hank Williams and Frank Sinatra among others.
