One of music’s all-time greats, David Byrne, has created an installation based in the music medium, but with an interesting twist with this project we previewed here. He took an antique organ and connected its keys to various devices that actually "play" parts of a 9,000 square-foot interior of the Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan. Byrne is a musical artist to say the least, so seeing this creation combine audio with visual in this way is really amazing. It is an experience in which visitors are encouraged to participate by sitting behind the organ to see and hear first hand what this device actually does. This installation will be open to the public until August 24th.
