Television released this, their debut album, in 1977.   The band helped to establish the reputation of the legendary CBGB in New York and continue to be a major influence for many artists, from U2 to The Strokes.   Marquee Moon was recorded by the legendary recordist, Andy Johns, though the sound he had made famous with bands like Led Zeppelin  was shelved, at the request of the Band, who were after a much more minimal approach.   The track,  Marquee Moon, was in fact recording in a single take, considered at the time by Televion drummer, Billy Ficca, as a rehearsal.   The sleeve art for this album, photographed by Robert Mapplethorpe, matches the tone and simplicity of this great album.
