Nike are enjoying a fruitful year with all the Be True celebrations and the Olympics set to put the Swoosh centre stage once again, it doesn’t stop there. The famed slogan which caught the imagination of the world ‘Just Do It’ is celebrating 20 years at the forefront of the sportswear brand having been coined by Dan Wieden, of Wieden + Kennedy. Just today I came accross this commercial entitled ‘Courage’ so obviously I had to find it and publish an article about this commercial created by the famed advertising agency who has been at the backbone of Nike’s most influential campaigns over the many years.
“The commercial celebrates courage as the essence of the ‘Just Do It’ spirit,” said Joaquin Hidalgo, Nike Vice President of Global Brand Marketing. “The fast paced cut takes viewers on an inspiring journey highlighting obstacles athletes at every level must face and overcome.” The commercial features some of the brightest names to ever adorn the Swoosh from Steve Prefontaine, John McEnroe, Lance Armstrong through to Kobe Bryant, Liu Xiang, Roger Federer, Wayne Rooney amongst others, epic.
