Stansfield is a new menswear label from Dominic Stansfield, the designer behind Rushmoor and PF Flyers. The label is inspired by its designer’s roots in the Calder Valley area of England between Lancashire and Yorkshire, a place with a rich heritage of cotton production dating from the Industrial Revolution. While some brands offering grown-up casual wear seem content merely to take inspiration from the past, Stansfield updates its garments with the use of interesting colours and fabrics and details such as buttons, trimmings and unusually-positioned pockets to produce "timeless peces for the modern gentleman". The Spring / Summer 2008 collection uses a tight colour palette and fabrics sourced mainly from the UK and Japan. Products include jackets, shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, trousers and shorts, with inspiration ranging from hiking gear to American pilots’ jackets and even the humble tracksuit. Available now at stockists across the UK, Europe and Japan including A Butcher of Distinction in London and Oki-Ni – see Stansfield’s Myspace page for more stockist details.
