Walter Van Beirendonck Fall/Winter 2009 Collection
Walter Van Beirendonck is perhaps, the most prolific designer to come out of Belgium and certainly the most eccentric one out of the Antwerp Six. While many designers have toned down their creativity for more commercially viable collections this season, Beirendonck remained loyal to his infatuation for the avant-garde in his latest neon-colored totem-inspired collection. Included in this collection are his trademark pieces that resemble twisted balloons taking forms in the shapes of penises and blown up faces . A sense of wearability very much still remains however as most of these quirky creations were laid over rather simple tailored suits pieces amongst other interesting items like oversized sweaters and edgy coats.
