Here is an interesting opportunity to take a behind the scenes look at one of the more successful heritage brand reinventions we have seen recently, the “Beacon TO KI TO” collection from Barbour.   The traditional English outdoor brand has given us a look at the sketches and notes from Japanese designer Tokito Yoshida’s recent Fall/Winter collection, aswell as the Spring/Summer 2010 range.  Giving us an insight into how he went about updating Barbour’s popular rural styles for a younger, urban audience.  Take a look for yourself below…

I just had repaired (2nd time) my 30 year old Barbour jacket. Like an old friend, this coat had traveled the world and has seen me grow up. Like an old cast iron pan, each nick and scratch has a flavor or a memory all its own. Re-proofing once a year (or when needed) has given my coat the patina of age, plus that of history in all Barbour coats made before and after. This old friend would be very upset if I replaced it with a new coat. No need, but the ones described above seem very nice indeed. Cheers, wb
