Following great anticipation Work In Progress announce their 4th UK store opening on London’s Shoreditch High Street on Friday 2nd March 2012. 15 years ago the original Neal Street store opened and since Carhartt – Work In Progress have extended their reach to Covent Garden’sEarlham Street in 2002, Manchester’s Oldham Street in 2008, and continue to break newground by establishing their presence in the heart of London’s East End.

Taking up residency in a 200 year-old listed building whose previous occupants includea gentleman’s barber and a confectioner, Carhartt – Work In Progress have carefullyrestored and renovated the location with a unique, contemporary store design.

Specially sourced materials such as reclaimed Douglas fir timbers from adecommissioned British military barracks in Gloucester, decking from an old amusementpier in Great Yarmouth and 200 year old oak from a small Scottish dairy farm; have beenreworked using traditional methods by local tradesmen. Carhartt – Work In Progress havecreated an environment in tune with the area’s historic surroundings, further reflectinga tradition of design and quality. Artist Pietro Sanguineti was commissioned to createbespoke neon artwork for the store. The installation is one of a series of five; another canbe seen in the Crosby Street location in NYC.
