Taking a new approach to the iconic Authentic and Sk8-Hi, Vans, OTH and Chef Chuck Hughes have teamed up to come up with these impressive kitchen-ready sneakers. Dubbed “Black Crab,” both the Sk8-Hi Reissue Zp LX and Authentic LX feature water-repellent materials, while the minimal stitching and waxed cotton laces adds to the refined aesthetic. Chef Chuck Hughes — owner of well-respected Montreal restaurants Garde Manger and Le Bremner — has his own shows on Food Network Canada and Cooking Channel in the US, which was was pivotal to the project. Fuelled by a longtime love of Vans and the desire to rethink traditional kitchen footwear, Hughes has designed a shoe that’s tough enough for the kitchen, but stylish enough for catering backstage at world class music festivals, or skateboarding in his native Montreal. Look out for the release of the Vans x OTH “Black Crab” Collection on March 22 at the Vans x OTH store and online.
