GANT Rugger spring/summer 2013 lands in Florence, Italy in June when the menswear cognoscenti are summoned to Pitti Uomo. Just don’t call it a trade show. Ostensibly a marketplace, Pitti is just as much a global congress of style attended by effortlessly debonair Italian guys, their imitators, earnest brand men, clothes geeks, street-style lensmen, revered magazine editors and bloggers, both the seasoned and
the uninitiated. Twice a year, they make the pilgrimage to Pitti – the world’s largest unofficial menswear
runway – where the assorted gentlemen casually try to out-handsome one another in the courtyard of the
Fortezza da Basso.“Everyone tries to be chill about it, but Pitti is really menswear’s moment, its ultimate clubhouse,” said GANT Rugger designer Christopher Bastin. “Guys put their best well-heeled foot forward. There are muses all along the promenade. This season I wanted to capture that feeling, but through an American lens.”
