For the second version from Alden for Winn Perry, ‘Little Tanks’ as they are called, and do very much resemble, are based on Pershing Trench Boots given to US soldiers in 1918 to get them through the tougher standards of every day use such as rain, sleet and hail. Waterproofing was the important feature for the boots, which are heavily oiled on reverse chamois leather. Although, in 1918 they attempted to waterproof the boots themselves with beef tallow. I love the lacing features of eyelets and hooks and the slim yet durable crepe sole. A great color for boots to wear with the more lighter summer options. See below for images.
