The sneakers have a topstitched toe cap, and fasten with a thick, black lace that runs through eight metal eyelets. There are also two metal zips that run up the leg on either side of the foot. There is a reinforced panel on the heel and a small leather pull at the opening of the trainer. There are metal eyelets of various sizes on both the inside and outside of each foot. The sneakers feature a black, leather insole. These sneakers are from the Ann Demeulemeester Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
Ann Demeulemeester has been refining her singular vision for womenswear and menswear since rising to prominence as a member of the Antwerp Six. Demeulemeester’s meticulous cutting focuses on a silhouette that is inspired by both ‘the masculine and the feminine within each human being.’ The designer refuses to be drawn into fleeting trends, and her often starkly black and white collections are avant-garde without ever being overtly loud.
